Ron Gilbert leaves Double Fine Productions

Ron Gilbert is going to Double Fine Productions to leave, he makes through his website. He worked since 2010 in the company of his old mate Tim Schafer. The two know each other from LucasArts, where they worked together on such classics as The Secret of Monkey Island.

A reason for his departure gives Gilbert is not in the update that he is on his own website put. The veteran argues that it is time to go now The Cave, the platform game that he was at Double Fine Productions made, has been completed. The Cave was released in January, for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Windows. According to Gilbert, it’s time for a ‘next step’, even though he makes not clear what that step will be. “There are still so many games to design,’ says he. So, he wants an rpg for iOS, under the title of ‘Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover the Ultimate Sea Shanty: A Musical Match-3 Pirate RPG. Why he is not in the service of Double Fine wants to make, is not clear.

Gilbert came in 2010 in the service of Double Fine Productions, when director Tim Schafer him a job offer. The two have known each other since the nineties, when she was at LucasArts worked together on the first two Monkey Island games. Gilbert left after LucasArts.
