China will ensure the promotion of the use of the gps-alternative “Beidou” on smartphones. Beidou was in december 2011 in use taken by the army and the government. A year later the system was accessible to the public.

The Chinese positioning system currently consists of 16 satellites, reports Xinhua News. Thus the system would coverage have to offer in the whole Asian-Pacific area. In 2020, the system has a global coverage, and from 35 satellites exist. The first satellites for Beidou were in 2000 already launched, and since 2003 is a limited test set-up is already available for disaster preparedness, weather forecast and traffic systems.

At the end of 2012 the system was released for public use. Beidou was on 10 meters. Speeds can be up to 0.2 metres per second to be established and the one-way-time-transfer accuracy would be 50 nanoseconds amounts. The accuracy is like gps for consumers is limited. The army and the government can make use of more precise positioning.

It is not clear how China’s system, competition from gps, Glonass and Galileo will encounter, the man wants to bring. Russia has it’s own positioning system, Glonass, is more or less mandatory in their own country. The Russians do that on mobile phones, which is the Russian positioning system do not support an extra tax of 25 percent to raise.
