Disney closes LucasArts

Disney Interactive has announced that the game developer and publisher LucasArts is part of Lucasfilm, is going to close. In October last year, Disney parent company Lucasfilm. Disney wants the franchises in licensing to other game developers.

In an e-mail to Game Informer confirms Disney that the the doors of the game designer, is going to close. The company is about on a licensing model, whereby other developers games, for Disney. Lets hope Disney its risk limit. As a result of the closure, there are approximately 150 employees fired.

LucasArts was part of Lucasfilm. Disney took over in October 2012 parent company Lucasfilm for an amount of four billion dollars. LucasArts was in the 80’s and 90’s very popular with her adventuregames, such as Maniac Mansion, Loom, The Secret of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle.

The news is not entirely unexpected. The past few years, published LucasArts especially games in the Star Wars franchise, which, however, are not always well received by the public. Also by LucasArts developed later Indiana Jones games were not sold well. In 2010, the game designer, all a part of his staff dismiss.
