Apple sued by THX for use speakertechnologie

THX Ltd. Apple has sued for the use of speakertechnologie in iPhones, iPads and iMacs. The company, founded by George Lucas and now to a large extent in the hands of Creative, has a patent on the technology.

THX has, according to Bloomberg last week lodged a complaint against Apple for infringing on a patent of the company. It would go on to patent 7.433.483, THX in 2008, assigned to and based on the ‘thin speakerconfiguraties and systems’. The patent describes how the sound quality of small speakers in computers and televisions can be improved, among others by use of a reflective surface, surrounded by a sound-absorbing material. Also describes the patent, according to AppleInsider, the conduct of sound through a narrow exit.

Apple would include with the iPhone 4 and subsequent devices infringe on the patent. THX is claiming financial damages suffered by the infringement, but it is not known what the compensation is that the company requires. THX was started in 1983 as part of Lucasfilm, the company George Lucas. THX was originally a certificeringsstandaard for the correct reproduction of sound, in order to guarantee that the audio of the film The Return of The Jedi to be as accurate as possible would be. The name comes from Lucas’ first film: THX 1138. In 2001, THX independently and today has audiobedrijf Creative with 60% the largest part of the shares in the hands.
