Sony’s new console PlayStation 4 can play videos in 4k, but not games. That report gamesite JoyStiq on the basis of an interview with a ceo of Sony. Upscaler does the new PlayStation; video must be recorded in 4k.
That the PlayStation 4 videos in 4k can play, does not come as a surprise. Sony is working on the technology to push and came last year as one of the first tv programmes and content at 4k resolution. Games will not, however, in ultra-hd to be played, says Sony president Shuhei Yoshida in a small interview with Joystiq.
Ultra-hd is a technology that is still in its early stages. Tweakers has this week for the first time a 4k tv tested, and the first models are worldwide only in dribs and drabs on the market. The prices are also high: most models cost 10,000 euros or more.
Sony announced this week the PlayStation 4. In addition, some, but not all of the specs and features listed. It was Sony’s price and release date for itself. Also showed Sony’s console does not: the final version would have not been, so said the Japanese manufacturer.
