The French publisher Ubisoft has announced that the Prince of Persia franchise is temporarily paused. The company sees for the near future, no bread in a new PoP game, but insists that the series continues as part of his portfolio.

“Brand management is a tricky thing, requiring a lot of attention is needed”, said Ubisoft Montreal-director Yannis Mallat compared to IGN. “You could say that Prince of Persia just on break, but we have previously said about other franchises, but which nevertheless suddenly the head to strike because a development team had a new game for it,” said the ceo of the Canadian ontwikkelstudio.

There are no new games have come, means, according to Mallat, not that the fans of the Prince of Persia franchise should be worried. “I’m not afraid of it. We find, in the future, definitely something to keep them entertained. Prince of Persia is part of our portfolio. We give franchises often some space to breath, to grow or to rest. Prince of Persia is Ubisoft is just as important as other franchises. As soon as we have something to show, we’ll do that.”

The reaction of Mallat follows about five months after the leak of an early trailer of a not yet announced project, in the video, Osiris is called. The video shows similarities with a in August, a leaked screenshot that may need a new, still-evolving Prince of Persia game showed. Or is that project still in development or in the refrigerator is put, is not known.
