In London, scientists have a robot is presented which, for a large part of human prosthetics. With counterfeit ‘human’ parts hope the creators have a fully bionic robot. The robot has a synthetic heart.

The robot, which is the name Rex has been given, is developed by the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and has about 1 million dollar cost. According to the creators, it is the first bionic man, constructed from prosthetics and synthetic organs. Rex has a foot-, hand-, knee -, and retinal-prostheses. Also, there are some internal organs built in, including an artificial heart that is ready to operate independently.

In the future, the scientists, the bionic robot, a number of artificial organs, including a set of lungs, a pancreas, and bladder. It is still unclear when Rex these components will be received. Currently would be 60 to 70 percent of the robot is already off fake human parts. However, it would still not be possible to a man in the whole building. For example, it is not yet possible for the brain to make.

The scientists do not expect that within a short time, a full functioning human being imitated can be. Or do they expect that within 10 years, robots will exist that has itself a pen, pick it up and it can write. Rex will be displayed at the Science Museum in London.
