A Us start-up has guns developed with a Linux-based tracking system. The guns, designed for hunters, are capable of moving targets to follow and should ensure that shots are much more accurate.

The start-up TrackingPoint presented his guns, three in total, at the CES in Las Vegas, writes Ars Technica. They are based on existing rifles, but with its own scope, trigger mechanism and high-quality – expensive – bullets. The scope, which Linux on board and on top of hud software has run, let archers a target to determine, after which a laser contact with the target. The target is then marked with a dot.

Meanwhile, influences such as wind, distance, and temperature, are included in a calculation where the bullet will go. The hud then displays a new image, using the crosshair where the bullet ends up. Then, the trigger of the gun to be pressed, then the crosshair on the dot to aim; as soon as these two overlap, is a shot fired. In this way, would shots a lot more accurate than when a shooter anywhere manually should be aware of. That is why bullets, especially at TrackingPoint need to be ordered, the company said: that must be accurately polished.

The scope includes also a small wi-fi server, which can connect with a corresponding iOS application. Through that application, others can watch on the scope. It is also possible to display video, which are always automatically created, to be directly uploaded to social-networking sites. The guns from 17.000 dollar to be ordered; for that price an iPad with the app included.

Asked about the controversial image of weapons, stressed a spokesman of TrackingPoint opposite Ars Technica that it comes to weapons that are meant for hunters. The reload of the so-called Bolt-action weapons, it takes a very long time, and the device is not suitable for shooting from short distances, what it is for potential criminals ineligible.
