The profit of HTC is in a years time as well as evaporates. Where the company in the last quarter of 2011 translated 260 million euro profit made, is that now approximately 26 million euro. The manufacturer is not known how many phones were sold.

Although HTC no longer want to say how many phones the company sells, it is likely that the phone manufacturer less devices sold: sales in the interim quarterly financial results fell substantially, to 60 billion new Taiwanese dollars, about the same level as 2.5 years ago, when the HTC Desire came out. In that quarter, sold the manufacturer of 5.4 million smartphones. If the average selling price per smartphone is not much different, are the sell about at that level. At the peak in 2011 sold to HTC around 13 million smartphones per three months.

The cause is probably in the emergence of especially Samsung’s Android devices. The sales of South Korean smartphones exploded last year and a half. HTC was the first manufacturer with Android smartphones and added, moreover, with its Sense skin, which was initially a lot of functionality, such as synchronization with Exchange accounts. Now sit such features standard in Android. The advantage that HTC had therefore disappeared.

HTC took last quarter, several new models, such as the Windows Phone 8X and One X+ in the Netherlands. Abroad addition to that, the first smartphone with full-hd display, which names as Butterfly, J Butterfly and Droid DNA. This is a device that is not in the Netherlands has been released.

Although the profit has evaporated, make a note of the smartphonemaker in each case, there is no red numbers. A lot of competitors, such as Sony, RIM and Nokia, members past quarters still loss. LG’s telefoontak was loss-making, but that was last quarter for the first time, returned to profit.
