Asus has the CES as an opportunity for the Ares II to announce, a video card with dual AMD HD 7970 GHz Edition gpu’s on board. The video card would be around the 500W can consume, and the gpu’s are at the desired temperature using water cooling.

Asus is not the first manufacturer that has a video card with two HD 7970-gpu’s are released, but it is the fastest dual-gpu video card to date. So it will use the HD 7970 GHz Edition gpu, which by Asus from 1000MHz to 1050MHz was overclocked. With the help of the Boost Clock the gpu’s even at 1100MHz overclocked. Memory, 3GB per gpu, so 6GB in total, does the job with a speed of 6600MHz, 600MHz higher than an HD 7970 GHz Edition. For all of this to provide power, there are no fewer than three achtpins-pci-e-connectors that have to be filled. That can assist 450W supply, while the pci-e slot it still 75W add.

Two HD 7970 GHz Editions can come together around the 500W consume and the Ares II will be not much inferior. To all the heat the gpu’s cooled by a 120mm radiator with two fans in a push-pull configuration, the airflow supply. A single 80mm fan on the video card itself cools the memory and vrm’s, that the necessary heat will produce. Thanks to the water cooling takes the video card but two slots in the attachment, where Asus’ previous dual-gpu card, three took, because of the gigantic cooler.

Compared to the competition, the Ares II is significantly faster. The two gpu’s of the Devil 13 HD 7990 from PowerColor at 925MHz clocked, while the memory at 5500MHz tap. That video card cost by more than 1000 euro. Asus has made no price is known of the Ares II, but the price will probably be a bit higher.
