Tele2 remains a virtual provider on the network of T-Mobile as long as customers 2g and 3g needed. That says a spokesman of the provider against Tweakers. Tele2 used the purchased frequentieblokken only for its own 4g network.

Who in the future, a customer of Tele2, thus makes use of the 2g and 3g network of T-Mobile, but the 4g network of Tele2, says spokesman Jan Willem te Gussinklo against Tweakers. “It is still too early to no 2g or 3g. Because we that networks themselves have not, we continue for the present, a virtual provider to T-Mobile.”

The rates of Tele2 may therefore still not too far below that of existing providers diving: Tele2 must be at the T-Mobile call minutes, sms and data procurement and will be required to pay so-called wholesale rates. “As more customers are on the 4g network, we can hopefully get our services at lower prices. The maintenance of a 4g network is cheaper than 3g.”

Tele2 is the only one that in addition to the existing mobile operators with an own network – KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile own frequentieruimte bought. For 160 million euros bought Tele2’s license for two frequentieblokken in the 800MHz band. The other intended newcomer, the combination of Ziggo and UPC, hooked because of the high price for the licenses. According To Gussinklo the frequencies are enough to have a substantial market share and all those people on good speed internet. “Otherwise we would have had that money not invested.”

Now the auction is over, can the 4g-networks are enabled. KPN offers from February 4g-coverage in a large part of the Randstad area and the area north of Amsterdam. Vodafone comes out with 4g in the summer of 2013. There are phones for sale that work with those networks, such as the iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One SV.
