The American netwerkgigant Cisco for 1.2 billion dollars to a six year old company was taken over that it easy for organizations to networks allows to manage. The company, which has 330 employees, is fully as part of Cisco operate.

Cisco has plans for the acquisition of Meraki, which is still to be formally approved, Sunday published. Meraki, which provide hardware and software that networks can be more easily configured, will continue as a separate division within Cisco, with the name Cloud Networking Group.

What plans Cisco with Meraki, is not yet clear. The opportunity seems to present that software of Meraki will be included with hardware from Cisco. On a faq page about the acquisition gives Meraki there is no clarity. “Our first priority is to continue with the build and support of the Meraki product line,” writes the company, but it leaves open the possibility that the inclusion of the Meraki software on Cisco hardware is indeed going to happen.

The price of 1.2 billion dollars is relatively high for a young company, but Meraki was already fairly mature and took on the last to actually profit. This is in contrast to, for example, Instagram, for a billion dollars by Facebook was taken over but still no business model.
