Sharp has in Japan a new high-end tv model is announced. The Aquos XL9-tv-series is the first Sharp tv with a Moth-Eye anti-glare filter on the front of the lcd and will be available in the sizes 46″ to 80″.
Sharp showed at the Ceatec 2012 trade show earlier this month in Japan for a prototype of the tv with the filter, but when the new tv series has not yet been officially announced. Also showed it at the presentation of the Aquos XL9 series of assays to test the effect of the new filter to demonstrate, that even though at the Ceatec.
New to the Moth-Eye technology, however, is not. So Philips in his PFL9706 and PFL9707 models already use a Moth Eye filter. However, it is not clear whether the filter is that Sharp will be using is the same as that by Philips or that the enhanced version. Philips makes in the listed models using a Sharp panel.
The XL9 series is available in the following formats: 46″, 52″, 60″, 70″ and 80,” and makes use of a Sharp Quattron-uv2a-panel with a rgby-subpixelopbouw. The tvs have a narrow bezel of aluminum and have a chrome-coloured foot in a U-shape. A 2.1 audio system, consisting of a total of five speakers is responsible for the noise and the tv has three tv tuners on board, which for a station look can be, while two other be included.
Although the Aquos XL9 a Japanese series, such announcements from Sharp is often a harbinger of products that the company in other continents will release. Most likely will be Sharp at CES 2013 in early January, such a model for the Western market to advertise.
