Facebook testing free wi-fi internet service for users who check-in

Facebook wants a new service to ensure that companies have free wi-fi can provide to users who check-in. The wi-fi service is currently being tested on a small scale, where the social-networking site does not want to say when this big is rolled out.

This so-called ‘social wifi’functionality was discovered by a developer that references in the code for the graphs for the Insights-the service of Facebook found. Meanwhile, Facebook itself confirmed the feature to work, which is currently in some of the companies being tested. According to the social-networking site, companies can have a custom router that the access to the wi-fi network provided as soon as the user on Facebook check-in at the company in question. They are then redirected to the Facebook page of the company, but they get in exchange for free internet access.

You’ll probably want to Facebook with this feature, ensure that the check-in opportunities on the social networking site to be used anymore. For companies, this has the advantage that the more publicity is generated on the Facebook: when a user with a company check, it is visible for his or her Facebook friends.

It is still unclear when and or Facebook-wi-fi is widely deployed. Probably, this depends of the interest of companies. Facebook wanted to here still nothing about lost.
