Canon at the Photokina fair in Cologne, the EOS 6D announced. The new slr camera has to 20.2 megapixels, a new auto-focus system with 11 af points and a 3″lcd. It is also the first EOS camera with wi-fi and gps.
The EOS 6D is the new entry-slr with a full frame sensor of the Canon. The camera is a fullframe-camera is very small and light, with dimensions of 144,4×110,5×71,2mm and a weight of 770g, including battery. This is equal to that of the EOS 60D-dslr with aps-c image sensor. The housing is constructed from magnesium and has a top plate of polycarbonate. The EOS 6D body is dust – and splash-proof according to Canon to take a beating.
Canon has the EOS 6D features a new image sensor and autofocus system. The sensor is foreseen of 20.2 megapixels and is an iso-value can be set from iso 100 to iso 25,600. These values are to expand with the equivalents of iso 50, iso 51.200 and iso 102,400 can be reached. The af system has eleven auto-focus points, and is especially noticeable due to its high sensitivity of -3EV: according to Canon, it is the equivalent of moonlight. This means that the camera is also in very low light automatically should be able to focus.
New for the EOS system is the integration of wi – fi and gps support. With wi-fi, users can view and upload movie files to Facebook and Youtube via a hotspot, while there are also, for example, connection may be with a smartphone for a direct transmission of the files. The new EOS 6D from Canon is because of the features and especially the price, the direct competitor of the D600-dslr Nikon last Thursday announced. The EOS 6D has a list price of 2029 euro. The camera is from december available.
