The standards organization responsible for networks, the IEEE has a standard for a new version of ethernet approved. The 802.3 standard must be faster and more fuel-efficient wired networks.

The 2012 revision of the network standard by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association, or the IEEE-SA was approved, it would be backwards compatible with the current standard, which in 2008 was last updated. The updated standard must be faster wired networks and ethernet networks according to the new standard more efficient.

The main changes are support for 40Gbps and 100Gbps-network speeds, and improved support for 10 gbps epons. Also, the error correction would be improved and the new 802.3-2012 standard, should more energy-efficient network equipment. Also the support for embedded networks in cars have improved. In the 2012 standard was the 802.at-2009 standard, better known as power-over-ethernet, is included, which requires poe hardware to 25.5 W, must be able to supply or questions.
