Sony has a series of domain names registered which indicate a film about the consoleoorlog. It is not yet clear whether Sony actually makes a film about this topic, or that it is a part of a marketing campaign.

Sony, which has been generally known is that it is working on the successor of the PlayStation 3, recorded on 23 August a list of domain names that suggest a film about the consoleoorlog. So, the Japanese company “console-war.net’, ‘console-warmovie.com’ and ‘theconsolewar.net’ to bind, as well as many variations on those urls, reports Fusible.

Although the link with the coming successors of the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii soon laid, it is not clear whether the urls actually have something to do with the new consoles. The domain names are recorded by Sony Pictures, the filmtak of the group. Even though Sony Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment best could work together, it seems illogical that the domain names are part of the marketing campaign for the next PlayStation.

The consoleoorlog has been around since Sega and Nintendo in the late eighties, their consoles against each other. What at the time began with a battle between the NES and the Master System, was later the Super NES against the Mega Drive, the PlayStation vita against the Nintendo 64, the PlayStation 2 against the Xbox and Gamecube, and the PlayStation 3 against the Xbox 360 and the Wii. With the Wii U coming later this year, and the possible arrival of the next PlayStation and Xbox in 2013, it seems the next chapter in the consoleoorlog upcoming.
