On the internet are the first images appeared of two new PowerShot digital-cameras Canon. It comes to the PowerShot SX160 IS and SX500 IS. Both cameras would ‘soon’ to be introduced.

The PowerShot SX160 IS has to be seen as the successor of the PowerShot SX150 IS. From the now surfaced photos is that the zoom range has been increased from 12x to 16x. If Canon the same 1/2,3″image sensor as used with the SX150 IS, the 5-80mm-zoom lens, a kleinbeeldbereik of 28-448mm.

The sensor resolution of the new midrange digital slr is increased of 14.1 to 16 megapixels. It is not known whether there is still a ccd sensor or a cmos variant is used. Just as its predecessor, the SX160 IS a mode dial with pasm modes.

The PowerShot SX500 IS seems to be no direct predecessor, but this so-called bridge camera is the PowerShot SX40 HS. Instead of the 35x-zoom lens, the SX40 HS is with the SX500 IS a 30x-zoom lens used. Also, the new camera apparently does not include Canon’s HS System; the type number alone makes clear that the device features optical image stabilization. It is assumed that the SX500 IS IS equipped with a ccd image sensor, but the resolution is not out of the picture.
