Starting Thursday, Microsoft begins the rollout of a new logo. For the first time since 1987, and for the fourth time in its existence, changes to the software giant, of logo. Not previously, Microsoft had a symbol in its logo.

The new Microsoft logo was on Thursday morning, Us time, was announced and at the time of writing, deployed. Among other things, the Microsoft website is already featuring the new logo.

The new logo consists of a square symbol with a red, green, blue and orange box, which was previously used for Windows, followed by the word ‘Microsoft’ in the font Segoe. That font is also used for the new Windows logo.

It is the first time that the Microsoft logo contains a symbol; until now consisted only of the word ‘Microsoft’. Just like in the previous logo, the ‘f’ and ‘t’ are linked to each other. It is the fifth logo that Microsoft since its founding in 1975 has; the previous logo was about 25 years. This is quite exceptional for a logo.
