LG announces Optimus G smartphone with quadcore-Snapdragon-soc to

LG has its latest high-end smartphone: the Optimus G. The device runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by the quadcore variant of Qualcomms Snapdragon S4 soc, 1.5 GHz runs.

The presence of the S4-quadcore makes the Optimus G is the first device with this chip of Qualcomm; until now, manufacturers only the decision about the dual-core variant of the S4. The soc is in the apq-line with Qualcomm, which means that there is no modem built in. The modemfunctionaliteit by a loose – not-named – chip is provided that can handle the 4g network technology lte. There is a total of 2GB ram.

The Optimus G has a screen of 4.7″ with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels. LG indicates the panel as a True HD IPS+ and the screen uses in-cell touch, which means that the touch screen in the lcd is incorporated and there is no additional layer is required. This would make the screen thinner and the air gap between the elements to minimize. The screen would be from left to right almost edge-to-edge walk; LG says that the bezels only 3mm in size.

The device has a camera on the back, with a resolution of 13 megapixels and the front camera is a 1.3-megapixel camera placed for video calling. The software is based on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The unit weighs 145g, is 8.45 mm thick and is equipped with a large 2100mAh battery. The Optimus G coming next week in South Korea for a yet unknown price. A global release should follow later in the year.
