Scientists have developed a 3d map of the universe created in which 1.35 million galaxies are included. This makes it according to the makers, the largest 3d map ever. There is a special web page designed to the data to view.

According to the astronomers, who are part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III project, which includes the map, a length of 4 billion light years in every direction. Of 1.35 million galaxies is the location, in three dimensions, determined, but of about 200 million galaxies are images processed in the map. The conscious photographs, however, can not be used to determine the three-dimensional position of a galaxy to determine: the of a galaxy, originating from light to be examined, something that takes more time. Incidentally are also all the known black holes put on the map.

The 3d-map, which according to the creators, the largest ever, have to help to the history of the universe clearer. Scientists can use the data to stop the expansion of the universe to study, something that must also help in the study of dark matter and dark energy. It is expected that the 3d map in the future more extensively with the locations of more galaxies. Ultimately, the card is 6 billion light years in every direction.

The data is made publicly available, with the card on a specially mounted web page can be viewed. There is also a critical part of simulation based released, where up to 400,000 galaxies are included.
