Marissa Mayer is the new ceo of Yahoo, as the company has announced. Mayer previously worked at Google and was one of the first employees of the company. She follows with Yahoo interim ceo Ross Levinsohn.
Mayer studied computer science and went to Google to get started when the company only existed: she was employee number twenty, and the first female engineer at the search giant. Through the years she managed to climb up to vice president of the zoekafdeling where she was responsible for parts of the search engine, Gmail and Google News. In 2010, she was vice president of the department of Local, Maps and Location Services.
Mayer will be the new ceo will also take a seat in Yahoo’s board of directors. What happened to Ross Levinsohn is going to happen is not yet clear. For he the position of interim ceo fulfilled, he was head of the media department at the company.
