Telenet users without a data limit from the end of next month cutting if they are too many dates have verstookt. That happens only at the busy times of the day; on average, from the afternoon until late in the evening.

That is part of Telenet’s new network management policy at the end of next month starts and on which today a notice to customers is sent. Who is a ‘free download’subscription, see his internet speed at peak times in steps of 3 megabits per second is reduced, up to a speed of 1 megabit.

What exactly a peak time is different for each day: on Tuesday, is that from an hour or four in the afternoon, but on a Sunday, starts already at eight o’clock in the morning. Depending on the type of subscription may, within a month, 150GB to 250GB be downloaded before the speed is reduced. Counts internet traffic during peak hours but for a fifth, and during relatively busy periods for a third.

In addition, at busy times the p2p traffic was nipped in the bud; something that Telenet, a year ago already experimented. At peak times, 80 percent of internet traffic is reserved for ‘normal’ traffic; when it calms down, there will be at least 20 percent reserved for non-p2p traffic.

For subscriptions with a data limit, when the limit is exceeded, consumers can choose between a snelheidsverlaging to 128Kbps and an additional fee. For customers with a data limit counts consumption between 12 o’clock and 10 o’clock in the morning for the half. Unlike in the Netherlands are data limits in Belgium common.
