HTC is going to ‘most likely’ in the Netherlands to start selling the One S with a less powerful processor. Where the One S has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, turns off the manufacturer back on a Snapdragon S3.
The variants would be distinguished from one another with the type. Where the One S with more powerful S4 processor as the model number, Z520e, would the S3 variant as the model number Z560e lunch. Also, the clock speed is an indication: the less powerful S3 processor has a maximum clock speed of 1.7 Ghz. It is unclear whether on the box it is clear that the customer is a less powerful One’s purchase.

The difference between the two socs is large: the S3 is based on a 45nm process, and the obsolete Scorpion micro-architecture, while the S4 is baked at 28nm and the first processor to the newer Krait core. The S4 in many benchmarks with processors from top models like HTC’s own One X and the Samsung Galaxy S III, while the Snapdragon S3 in many benchmarks about half as powerful.
Qualcomm has been struggling to the demand of the S4 processor to keep up. The S4 is the only processor in production with lte in the chip is integrated. That makes surfing through lte less of the battery requires than in processors with a separate modemchip for lte. That is why almost all manufacturers the Snapdragon S4 in the lte versions of their phones: HTC does that with its own One X, while Samsung uses in the Galaxy S III. Also, tablets will probably be equipped with a S4 to lte connectivity to offer. Lte versions are often released in the United States.
The HTC One S came out in april in the Netherlands. The smartphone runs on Android 4.0 and has a 4.3″ Super Amoled screen with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. The One S after the One X is the most expensive HTC device that is on sale now. It is not the first time that HTC after the release an important part of a phone needs to adjust due to a shortage.
