Intel has on its Platinum Summit in London, a small computer is shown to the RACK baptized. The system measures just 10 by 10cm and features a Sandy Bridge cpu, Thunderbolt, usb 3.0, hdmi and a spot for two so-dimms.

RACK is primarily intended for use in kiosk systems and digital signage. Photos show that one side of the system has two so-dimm slots, a usb 3.0 port, a hdmi output and a thunderbolt connector. On the other hand, is the Sandy Bridge cpu placed, including active cooling. The small system works with Core i3 and Core i5 cpus which are normally in laptops are used. At the wireless level, there is support for wi-fi and bluetooth.

Intel is focusing with the RACK at professional applications, but would also versions for consumers planned. In future models will have the Sandy Bridge cpu by a newer Ivy Bridge model to be replaced. This must be the gpu performance of the small device is quite a boost.

Intel is not the only manufacturer with a compact system on the market. Recently started the shipment of the Raspberry Pi, a compact pcb with a 700MHz ARM processor from Broadcom and 256MB of ram. The most expensive version of the Pi costs 35 dollars and is equipped with usb, ethernet and hdmi. Also processorfabrikant USING for years compact motherboards with integrated cpus. Both systems are, however, not as powerful as the RACK.
