Analyst: worldwide sales mobile phones declined

The sales of mobile phones worldwide in the first quarter of this year, for the first time in a long time dropped. That claims to market researcher Gartner. Compared with the previous year there would have been two percent less devices sold.

According to Gartner, the total sales in the first quarter around the globe at 419.1 million units. The decrease is two percent compared to the same quarter a year earlier and would mainly be due to the disappointing demand from Asia. It is for the first time since the second quarter of 2009, a decrease compared to the same quarter a year earlier is listed.

Samsung and Nokia sell worldwide most mobile phones, respectively, with a market share of 20.7 and 19.8 percent. Compared to last year saw Samsung its share rise, while Nokia had to compromise. Apple, ZTE and LG are in the top 5 with a market share of, respectively, to 7.9, 4.2 and 2.5 percent.

Gartner also looked at the global share of smartphonebesturingssystemen. Android goes over head by 56.1 percent, with iOS on a large distance with 22.9 percent. Symbian, BlackBerry and Bada Samsung are in the top 5 with a share of 8,6, 6,9 and 2.7 percent. Microsoft with 1.9 percent in sixth place.
