Nikon put briefly, information 18-300mm DX lens online

Nikon Europe has on his website by accident the product page of a 18-300mm lens for DX camera bodies online. The expectation is that the new lens will soon be officially announced. The page is now removed.

From a in november last year released patent application, it appeared that Nikon is probably working on an 18-300mm VR lens for DX-dslrs, but with the korstondig online of the product page Nikon Europe is the arrival of the lens unintentionally confirmed, so read on NikonRumors.

Just like the current lens with the largest zoom ratio in the Nikon range, the 18-200mm VR lens, the new lens has a aperture range of f/3.5-5.6. That is because of the larger zoom range in a performance. The 18-300mm lens is built up of 19 lenses, including three aspherical lenses and three extra-high refractive index, divided into 14 groups. For comparison: the 18-200mm lens has 14 lens elements in 12 groups.

The filter size has grown by 72mm for the 18-200mm lens to 77mm with the new lens, while now, the use of nine rounded of aperture blades instead of seven. The lens has an internal focusing component on the basis of SWM technology, and image stabilization is used, the VR II system.

The lens is a lot larger and heavier outages than the current 18-200mm lens. The length is 12 cm, about 2.5 cm, while the weight has grown from 565 to 830g.

NikonRumors is expected that the lens in the coming weeks will be officially introduced, and that this introduction coincides with the announcement of a new DX dslr. That would be the successor of the D300s.
