Bradley Manning, the American soldier who is accused of secret documents have leaked to Wikileaks, according to a UN rapporteur during his captivity by the US inhumane and cruelly treated.
According to Mendez, there are strict penalties imposed on a person not yet found guilty. This would be a violation of the physical and psychological integrity of a not yet convicted suspect. Mendez argues against The Guardian that there is an inhumane, degrading and cruel treatment in violation with article 16 of the UN convention against torture.
The UN special rapporteur says it is not actually to be able to conclude that Manning is tortured, because he was of the Us authorities, no permission was given without monitoring to talk with the 24-year-old soldier. Mendez is of the opinion that the Us authorities Manning aware in solitary confinement have taken in an attempt a confession to enforce, or to the soldier incriminating statements to take.
The U.s. government has always maintained that there had never been a victim of any form of torture and Manning the same treatment as other suspects. Manning has now been transferred to another jail where he is pending his trial for the court martial. In his new home he would to a less strict regime are subject.
