Silverstone is working on a compact modular power supplies

Silverstone has on the Cebit a number of enclosures shown that already during Computex last year and CES in January showed. The most interesting however was what was not shown was: the company is working on compact power supplies that are modular.

At its booth in the Cebit-halls showed Silverstone’s Grandia GD07 and GD08, two quite blown htpc enclosures that accommodate a landscape atx motherboard. The DG07 has space for seven hard drives, the GD08 houses up to eight. The GD07 has a down wegklappend frontpanel with lock, while the optical drives in the GD08 always be accessible. The statusledje is dimmable, thanks to a potmetertje and specially designed air filters should resonantiegeluid fight. The interior is otherwise identical and is characterized by place for five 120mm fans.

The time being in China only available Redline RL01 will also arrive in Europe and gets an upgrade from usb 2.0 to 3.0 connections. Also the mini version of the FT03 was re-exhibited: the FT03-Mini can accommodate a m-itx motherboard and a big 140mm fan blowing air from below through the housing. The side panels are easily removable and the whole thing is based on a vertically placed Sugo enclosure. Other than that enclosure is not a small sfx power supply included: the company thinks that the user now can choose.

It will certainly play a role that the company is working on a new version of its sfx series of power supplies. Silverstone is expected during Computex, a modular version of the compact SFX 450W-power supply. That would be the cable management in the tight enclosures for which the sfx series is meant to significantly simplify. Also works in Silverstone to a 650W modular power supply that is only 140mm deep.
