Explosives-opruimingsrobot get flexible hands

HDTV Global, a company that specializes in engineeringsolutions for the U.s. army, has a robottorso with movable arms and hands designed for mounting on existing explosives-opruimingsrobots.

Current explosievenrobots, such as the Wheelbarrow that the Explosives Opruimingsdienst used, often have a reacher for picking up objects, but the movement thereof are restricted.

HDTV Global has a new robottorso, complete with arms, hands and fingers, developed. This allows an operator at a distance all the necessary actions for the dismantling of explosives to run, without a person physically need to be present, as is read in Ieee Spectrum.

The MK2 Robotic Arm has a hand with two fingers and a thumb. Using a special joystick with a feeling of more items to be picked up, a backpack opengeritst and power tools are used.

The MK2 Robotic Arm can be used in both a single and a twin configuration on an existing explosievenrobot as the PackBot and Thalon to be confirmed. The system with two arms has 27 degrees of freedom, weighing a total of 23kg and can be an object of up to 50kg pick up. The robotledematen are waterproof performed.
