Cisco has announced that it NDS, a company that software for interactive video services and drm, for an amount of five billion dollar take over. Cisco wants with this acquisition activities in onlinevideo strengthen.

NDS, originally an Israeli company and employs five thousand employees. The company is currently 49 percent owned by Rupert Murdochs News Corp. and 51 percent is in the hands of risk-investor Permira. The company develops and sells, among other software for set-top boxes, while also drm in the software has to offer.

Cisco, which has for some time been indicating that video is an important part of its business operations, the software of NDS among other things to integrate in its Videoscape platform. With Videoscape focus Cisco on content providers and companies that onlinevideo deliver to consumers and businesses.
