Analyst: Apple A5X chip for iPhone

Apple will be the A5X soc from the iPad to the next iPhone. Expect an analyst. The new chip would be too much to ask of the battery, while Apple is the chip in the new iPhone just more economical would like to make.

That’s why Apple will probably be a 28nm chip designs, presumably based on the Cortex A15 core. That, say analysts at Apple fansite Macworld. The system-on-a-chip in the new iPad, A5X is called, is made on a 45nm process, while other chips this year using a 28nm process. The smaller transistors have less voltage is needed to switch, so that less energy is lost and the chip so less of the battery requires. The Snapdragon S4 from Qualcomm in the HTC One S is a 28nm chip.

Also would the chip in the next iPhone no longer two Cortex A9 cores, but to use the new A15 core from ARM. In the past, used Apple socs from ARM, which were adjusted by Intrinsity. The A15 core, which uses a new architecture, which is, by kloktik more calculations it can perform, and has even less energy is needed to do that.

Apple has the higher resolution screen and support for 4g networks, the battery in the iPad quite has to increase. The battery in the iPad 2’s 25Wh, while the new iPad a 42,5 Wh battery. This is partly why the new iPad is thicker and heavier than the previous.

Because the battery in the iPhone small, should be kept, it is not logical that the A5X chip in the new iPhone are going to be used, says analyst Linley Gwennap. “For phones in particular, there is a good reason to be on the latest process about to turn.” Gwennap focuses as an analyst on the market only for processors.
