T-Mobile works with html5-based operating system for smartphones

T-Mobile has let know to work with Firefox maker Mozilla with Boot2Gecko, an html5-based operating system for smartphones. It is still unclear whether T-Mobile smartphones with Boot2Gecko is going to sell.

T-Mobile makes the people free of its Innovation Labs to work on the development of Boot2Gecko, Firefox developer Mozilla is known. In addition, the provider ‘further steps’ in consideration; presumably relates to the sales of smartphones with the operating system, that is fully written in html5 and is based on web-apis.

In addition to T-Mobile is also going to the Spanish carrier Telefónica in the sea with Mozilla. The Spanish provider is going to actually devices to sell with the operating system this year. It is still unclear who the devices. Mozilla still has no deals announced with hardwaremakers, but the Korean manufacturer LG was in the past week associated with Boot2Gecko.

Boot2Gecko is based on the same variant of the Linux kernel as Android and runs currently on Android devices. All apps and menus are based on web-apis and of individual apps is that the source code also with a press of a button. Mozilla announced Boot2Gecko last year as a plan, but on telecombeurs Mobile World Congress for the first time, concrete progress is shown.
