Two Japanese researchers have a gun-like device built that talking to people was silenced. A possible area of application is a library or other ‘stilteplek’.
The design of the speech-jammer gun is simple: the device makes use of a directional microphone and speaker. Also contains the speech-jammer a motherboard with a processor and custom software, and a remote unit.
The gun should be pointed at a talking person. After the capture of the sound is the voice with a delay of approximately 200ms returned to the speaker. By the audio signal with a small delay to return, is the cognitive part of the brain the speech provides affected. The speaker begins to stutter and stops finally with talk.
According to the researchers, Kazutaka Kurihara and Koji Tsukada, the speech-jammer gun, which has a range of up to 30 metres, no lasting negative impact on the ‘victim’ and disappears the effect immediately if the gun no longer aimed. The speech-jammer gun would be especially good to work on people who read, and less effective in ‘spontaneous’ conversations. Nevertheless, the researchers suggest that the system can be used for example in libraries or to get people to silence if they are in a group discussion someone always in the reason fall.
