‘Sony is going to Windows Phone devices’

Sony is planning for the end of the year smartphones with Windows Phones. That report multiple sources Tweakers.net. The first Sony phones with Windows Phone would be on version 8 of the OS.

The recent years brought Sony Ericsson only smartphones with Android, but that strategy would Sony, who now have smartphones under its own name, shall be so released for Windows Phone devices.

The step is remarkable, because Sony rather seems to focus on integration of its products, such as smartphones, tablets, and the PlayStation console in a single platform. However, Microsoft has PlayStation competitor, the Xbox Live integrated with Windows Phone. Perhaps the mobile software for the PS3 and Xbox next to each other exist on any upcoming Sony devices with Windows Phone.

Last year popped up, there’s already a prototype of a Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7. The manufacturer worked until a few years ago, together with Microsoft. The most recent devices are the Xperia X1 and X2, both on Windows Mobile.

Sony announced this week two devices with Android, the Xperia P and Xperia U. Earlier this year the all with the Xperia S, also an Android smartphone. The two tablets that Sony released Tablet S and Tablet P, run both on Android. Sony bought Ericsson in October last year, so Sony Ericsson was renamed Sony Mobile. The deal was only a few weeks ago definitively completed.
