PNY introduces Professional-series ssd’s

The American company PNY, is primarily known for its graphics cards, has a new series of solid state drives released it under the heading of Professional selling. The drives have a SandForce controller on board.

With the Professional series from PNY adds the company to a not inconsiderable series of competitors who also have a SF228x controller from the SandForce-barn use. As such, Intel 520 ssd’s, OCZ’s Vertex 3 series and Corsairs Force 3 ssds use the same controller. The performance of the sata-600 drives are similar to the drives of the competition: sequential would be speeds of up to 550MB/s read and 520MB/s for write, can be met.

The Professional series is in three variants with storage capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB, available. PNY let the controller sync mlc memory control, with up to 60,000 iops in writing will be met. Incidentally, the SF2281 controller used for the largest drive with a capacity of 480GB. PNY gives three year warranty on the drives. The prices would be roughly in line with the other ssds with similar specifications, but, as yet, provides only one store them for much higher prices.
