Philips is going to be the 2012 tv models come with a new design for the remote control. Not only get the company off of the so-called pebble-design, but also provides for the remotes of a qwerty keyboard on the back.
Philips sends the current oval design of the remote control for tv models with retirement and will be 2012 models with a new, more rectangular design, as can be seen at FlatPanelsHD.
The main new feature is the shared qwerty keyboard on the back, in the middle of an empty field, that may be intended for touchbediening. The keyboard can be used for entering texts and urls in the smart tv environment of Philips. On the front is for access to this online environment a own button spent.
Philips has the front of the remote on a number of other items were changed. For example, the context-sensitive colored buttons moved to below the d-pad section, and Philips has buttons added for direct access to the tv guide, 3d-activation, Ambilight functionality, source selector, digital tv and image size.
The d-pad takes in the new design a less prominent role in. ‘Home’ and ‘Back’ now have their own button, while the selection no longer on the d-pad, but a more logical position, just above the volume setting.
The new 8000-series-tv of Philips get a remote with a finish of brushed aluminum on the front and a white back, while the remote control for the new 7000 series, a black jacket of plastic.
Philips has already developed a tv remote control with qwerty keyboard, the Dual, but did not default on its tv’s. This remote is later renamed the uWand.
