Norwegian lan-party will record network speed of 200Gbps

The Norwegian lan party The Gathering claims ‘the fastest network in the universe’. In cooperation with Altibox, Huawei and Cisco is a network for visitors, with theoretical speeds of 200Gbps rigged.

The Norwegian The Gathering and the Swedish Dreamhack are already years in a frantic battle to the fastest network to offer to visitors. In november of last year, Dreamhack the crown of The Gathering about, by a speed of 120 gigabits per second. The Norwegian record of 110Gbps of a year ago was broken.

“No way that we the Swedes on head let go. We have set the bar a little bit higher, we have a whole floor increased,” says Valvik Eriksen, spokesman of The Gathering. Altibox will work with the roll-out of the network together with the Chinese manufacturer of network technology, Huawei and tier1 operator Level 3. Cisco provides further hardware for the core network in the Vikingskipet Olympic Arena in the Norwegian Hamar, where the lan party at the beginning of april is held.
