Manufacturers introduce 7800-series graphics cards

AMD has with the 7850 and 7870 cards are mainstream cards in the Southern Islands series ge lwa site. The Pitcairn gpu of the 7800 series will be on 28nm produced. Several manufacturers bring their own cards.

The AMD Radeon HD 7850 is the simpler version of both cards: the Pitcairn Pro is equipped with 1024 streamprocessors, 64 texture units and 32 rops. The gpu has a clock speed of 860MHz and 2GB of memory tap 4800MHz and communicates across a 256bit wide bus. The Pitcairn XT gpu in the 7870 is 1GHz clocked and also has more components: the gpu has 1280 streampprocessors activated, 80 texture units and 32 rops and 2GB of memory at 4800MHz. The tdp is 175W then also a little higher than the 130W of the 7850.

Various manufacturers have their version of the two video cards was released. MSI has the stockkoelers replaced by the Twin Frozr III coolers and overall the MSI R7850 and 7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC-card standard. The 7850 at 900MHz clocked and the 7870 overall MSI at 1050MHz. Also PowerColor has different 7800 cards released the PCS+ HD7870 is a fabrieksoverklok to 1100MHz. The HD 7870 GHz Edition and HD 7850 are standard clocked.

Also Asus has Pitcairn cards released and uses its DirectCUII cooling. The TOP-versions of the Asus 7870 card is at 1100MHz clocked and the memory is ticking on 5GHz. The 7850 is the percentage further increased to 975MHz for the gpu and 5GHz on the memory. Other manufacturers, including Gigabyte, HIS, Club3D and XFX come out with their variants of the cards, which are also for the most part are overclocked.
