Andy Rubin, head of Android division at Google, at the Mobile World Congress recognized that the sales of Android tablets is somewhat disappointing. In two years time, there are about 12 million Android-running tablets sold.
Rubin called in Barcelona, the 12-million-selling Android tablets are a ‘not insignificant’ number, but less than would be needed to be successful on the tablet market. According to Google’s Android boss, Google will provide with its partners this year committed to ensuring that, in 2012 more to capture market share on the competition, reports The Verge.
In practice, however, would be difficult to consumers to convince you that Android also should be seen as a solid tabletplatform. Therefore we want to Google much more clearly that Android is a broad platform that is next to the ‘ecosystems’ of its main competitors: Apple and Microsoft.
The Android-foreman dropped further to know that developers still have some training to use applications not only on smartphones well run, but also to adapt to the specific requirements of a tabletgebruiker. Nevertheless, it would be a developer, an app is not in duplicate, have to develop.
Rubin also gave new figures about the number of activated Android-devices, free: every day, there would be worldwide 850.000 be activated. Half a year ago that was only a half-million. In total, there are over 300 million Android-running devices are sold, while this number in november and January, respectively 200 million and 250 million.
