‘EA and Maxis working on SimCity 5’

According to a German gamesblad works ontwikkelstudio EA Maxis for Electronic Arts on a new installment in the SimCity series. SimCity 5 would be a brand new engine, multiplayer and in 2013 on the market.

From an interview that the German gamesblad GameStar has done with Lucy Bradshaw of Maxis, it would appear that the studio is working on SimCity 5, and that the pc game in 2013 on the market. Bradshaw would in the interview indicate that SimCity 5 had been previously revealed would be, but that the project is slowing down due to the work that Maxis had with Spore and The Sims franchises.

According to GameStar the game is made with a completely new engine called Glassbox. SimCity 5 could also be a multiplayer mode. The buildings in the game would update and players are no longer stuck to straight roads. GameSpot, that the findings from the German article took over from the Spanish website Jindo, points out that EA and Maxis during the Game Developer Conference 2012 an event on the agenda. The GDC is next week in San Francisco.

Electronic Arts and Maxis have not yet commented on the news about SimCity 5. Or put EA earlier teasers that seemed to point to a new installment in the SimCity series. Also, when it was already referred to the event during the GDC will take place. That event is called also “Inside the Glassbox”, where Glassbox so would refer to the name of the new engine.
