Buffalo introduces new ssd series

In its home country of Japan has Buffalo on his latest series of solid state drives released. The ssd’s are not by Buffalo self-produced, but by a third party. The prices are not yet competitive with drives from other manufacturers.

The new solid state drives that Buffalo under its brand name sells, by PLDS or Philips & Lite-on Digital Solutions produced. The ssds use Marvell controllers, which flashchips Toshiba control. In any process the flashchips be made is not known and the controller is not specified. Given the performance of the drives would be, however, that the 88SS9174 controller, combined with 32nm-Toshiba-nandgeheugen. Buffalo provides the SSD-NS/PM3P series in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

The controller is assisted by a 256MB or 128MB of cache memory: the 128GB version has 128MB of cache, while the two larger variants, with capacities of 256GB and 512GB, about 256MB of cache. The read speeds of the drives amounts, from the smallest to the largest drive, 500MB/s, 513MB/s and 479MB/s. Write speeds gives Buffalo is not on, however, reports that the Japanese manufacturer that the sata600 drives including backup and ramdisk software will be provided and three year guarantee. The prices in Japan are converted, respectively, to 225 euros, 441 euros and 835 euros. Compared with European prices is very spicy.
