A 48-year-old Belgian from Harelbeke must pay a fine of 5500 euro and a compensation of 65.651 euro to Sabam to pay for the illegal upload of not yet published music of the Kaiser Chiefs. Sabam demanded 100,000 euros.
Auteursrechtenvereniging Sabam filed a criminal complaint in the numbers from the Kaiser Chiefs on the internet before the actual release of the music. After some investigation of the police was the culprit found: a 48-year-old Belgian from Harelbeke. In a lawsuit demanded fifty different parties and stakeholders, a compensation of approximately one hundred thousand euros.
The man had at home, as it turned out, after a search, still 1127 downloaded files on its system, including, among others, 409 movies. It is not known whether the man who also has uploaded. The court decided ultimately that the man, a compensation of 65.651 euro and a fine of 5,500 euros to pay.
