Trend Micro makes HijackThis open source

Trend Micro has the antimalwaretool HijackThis released on Sourceforge under a GPLv2 license. The company continues to develop software via the project page. The original developer wants people to together the program improve.

The antimalwareprogramma, which in Visual Basic is written, the computer, by the malware and other unwanted programs. It then creates a detailed report about his findings. Experts in that report to see what is there lacking to the windows installation. The tool is very popular on certain forums where, by default, first to a HJT-log is requested prior to further errors being searched for.

Why the software now opensource is made is not known. However, says the original developer, the Dutchman Merijn Bellekom, in a statement: “This means that people have a solid foundation for their own anti-malware programs to make or improve.”

The Japanese security company in 2007, HijackThis purchased by Merijn Bellekom. Trend Micro added when a feature that allow users to the log files for analysis to the company could send. The program is now available to download from the project page on Sourceforge.
