Sony comes with smartphonechip for fast file transfers

Sony has a TransferJet chip announced for smartphones. The chip is in August to manufacturers shipped. With TransferJet can smartphones and laptops wireless can exchange data with a speed of 350Mbps.

Smartphones with the chip appear, therefore, probably at the earliest only at the end of 2012 or in 2013. Sony will the chip probably also use it for their Xperia smartphones; the Japanese manufacturer focuses on integration of various products, such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and the PlayStation console. TransferJet is a logical technology, because large files can be quickly transferred.

TransferJet works as nfc with a touch between two devices. While with nfc only a small amount of data can be transferred, via TransferJet data to be transferred with a speed of 350Mbps. A blu-ray movie at 1080p resolution in this way is within one and a half to five minutes to be transferred.

The Sony chip will manufacturers about 4.50 euros in procurement costs, so Sony makes known. The manufacturer also comes with ontwikkelkits for Linux and Android to create software with which the chips can be used. Toshiba also offers TransferJet chips for smartphones. Sony presented TransferJet four years ago.
