Sony has a firmware-b lwa ta with Android 4.0 released for its Xperia models from 2011. This second test version is a little closer to the final release, but still not all applications and features in the firmware working.

Some new features of the rom are an updated ui, a new lockscreen with face unlock, an updated mail client and a sneltoetsfeature.

The testrelease is intended for developers; nor is the alpha version the beta version will not really be used daily. With the beta, the user can still not use the wi-fi connections and also Google applications and bluetooth are not yet working. In the alfatest were features such as bluetooth, wi-fi and 3g are not certified, and therefore not usable. Consumers who do not have extensive knowledge of their set with is explicitiet not recommended as the rom to use.

Only holders of certain Xperia devices, namely the Arc S, Neo V and Ray can get started with the new rom. The early adopters must have the latest 4.0.2.A.0.42-rom and a geünlockt device. Sony wants with this new test even more feedback to finally become a stable, certified official rom.

While public tryouts, quite common in games and computer software, is smartphones unusual. Also HTC has, however, this way is chosen; it gives a fully working test version to a few hundred members of the European test group. The Transformer TF101 tablet, Asus also got the Ice Cream Sandwich update, but without trial.
