Microsoft could have plans to the well-known Windows logo partially in exchange for a new logo in Windows 8. The new logo should fit in with the design of the upcoming Metro gui and appears, perhaps, in the Consumer Preview.

Microsoft used the well-known Windows logo, the ‘waving flag’ with the colors red, green, blue and yellow, since Windows 3.1, as the trademark for its operating systems. In screenshots of the upcoming Consumer Preview, which is on the Chinese website Cnbeta, the traditional Windows logo, however, replaced by a monochrome logo with a more angular design.

The new logo would among other things become visible when the charms bar is activated. The Verge reports that the logo is authentic and believed to be in the Consumer Preview will appear. The boot-screen of the Consumer Preview, the beta at the end of this month to come out, contains, according to the leaked screenshots, however, still the classic logo.

Microsoft’s new Windows logo would better reflect the new Metro design, which the software giant quite a bet. Also would the software giant, the logo want to use in a marketingoffensief that Microsoft starts when the release of Windows 8 imminent.
