Services that Microsoft is now still under the brand name Live offers pre-installed apps in the Consumer Preview of Windows 8 and lose all their “Windows Live” designation. Windows Live ID Microsoft Account and Windows Live Mail, and Windows Live Calendar going to simply Mail and Calendar are called. Furthermore, the names Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Photo Gallery has changed to, respectively, People and Photos, notes The Verge.

The Live display remains present only as part of “Xbox Live for Windows”. Under this name belongs to Microsoft entertainment services for music, games and video in Windows 8. The name Zune disappears from the Windows Store and the Music and Video services, although Zune Pass continues to exist.

At the end of the year should be the “Xbox Live for Windows”service for Xbox, Windows and Windows Phone available as a kind of Spotify-competitor with possibly a video addition. Existing Zune Pass members may use their plan, and Microsoft will in the first instance, free Xbox Live for Windows subscriptions provide for the adoption to accelerate.
