Google working on password generator for Chrome

Google is working on a generator of random passwords for use in Chrome browser. The tool should help people to secure passwords for web services, which the browser then in the normal way to save.

The password generator works, because on a registration page in the field for entering a password, a key will appear. By clicking on it, you may receive a random password that the user can fill in. That password can then click on the regular way in Chrome to be remembered, says the project page.

The tool must prevent all services the same password and the attackers are so easy to access all kinds of accounts if the password is leaked, draws ThreatPost. The tool would recognize that it is going to a registration page, because there is much more fields than a regular login pages are listed, including two password fields.

The tool requires that the user Chrome as the default browser continues to use, unless the password in a different manner is transferred to a different browser, such as by the write about. In addition, it works only with new registrations and are not services for which the user is already registered and log in.

It is unclear whether and when the tool is in use will be taken in Chrome. It is now no more than an idea and according to Google, it won’t be more than a workaround for the period that Open ID has not yet generally in use. “Chromes long-term solution is to login via the browser and Open ID”, it says on the project page.
