Gamers bought 6,54 million games in Belgium v in 2011

The Belgian Entertainment Association has announced that in 2011 in Belgium lwa of 1.04 million pc games and 5.5 million console games were sold. The sales drops year-on-year, but total turnover remained roughly stable.

The figures of the retailonderzoeksbedrijf GFK Retail Technology show that the gamesmarkt in Belgium in 2011 a turnover of 220 million euros realized. The revenue experienced a slight decrease, of 0.1 percent, compared to the year before.

The pc platform recorded a turnover of 23.4 million euros, over 10 percent of the total gameomzet. That is a decrease of 9 percent compared with 2010. The consoles were good for a turnover of 196,31 million euro, or 89 percent of the total. There, turnover increased with 1 percent.

What numbers terms, there were 2.1 percent fewer games sold than in 2010. In 2011, there were 0.7 percent less consolespellen sold. The pc platform did it a lot worse; before that went to 100,000 less games over the counter, a decline of 8.8 percent. This evolution was made last year to see it, when there is a decline of 10.8 percent was noted.

Online games are becoming more and more important notice the BEA. The organization cites a study which found that 44 percent of spending for games online is done.

The retailonderzoeksbedrijf also has the top ten best-selling games in Belgium released. The figures were calculated for the different consoles: Nintendo DSi, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360, and the pc platform separately.
